 Profanity's Not Peaches & Cream

Profanity is not just peaches and cream — it’s more the place of eternal torment and feces. And as popular as vulgar language has become it’s not as cool as it’s cracked up to be. There are many pitfalls to profanity. Here are a few. The use of profanity:

fuels inner anger, frustration, and rebellion,

creates unthinking, habitual patters of speech,

hampers heartfelt communication,

fills human minds with gross thoughts and images,

hinders personal and spiritual growth,

offends many people and causes them to think less of you,

causes adults to sound like immature adolescents,

takes away self-control,

programs the mind for misery and self-destruction,

limits creativity,

creates the appearance of lack of intelligence,

indicates a passive surrender to verbal peer pressure,

sets a bad example for others

shows disrespect for yourself and for others.

 Features Of Your BrainCam

Our high tech devices nowadays have so many features and abilities that it is easy to be completely unaware of some of them. Today’s cell phones, laptops, and cameras can do so many thing that we can’t even remember, much less use, all of their features.

The same is true of our BrainCam, our mind’s eye, commonly known as our imagination. We can zoom in on a tiny worry and make it bigger than Mt. Everest. Or we can zoom out on a major problem and make it as small as an ant or a gnat.

We can picture people applauding us and praising us or we can picture people criticizing us and putting us down. We can play inspirational music in our mind or we can play music from a horror show or we can play clown music.

Aren’t those amazing features in our BrainCam? Point is, we don’t have to accept life the way it looks or feels. We can touch it up with our BrainCam. We can put a positive spin on anything with BC’s amazing features.

The only problem is that we have to take the time to learn what our BrainCam can do and then we have to practice using it until we get good at it. After much practice with your BC you can actually become an inverse paranoid. That’s right. You can begin to believe that everybody is out to help you. And whew, that feels good.

Why not begin to learn to use some of your amazing BrainCam features today? You can find BC instructions in self-help books, psychology, motivational tapes and CDs, and in the most widely read book in Western Civilization.

 Why So Much Youth Violence?

More youth are committing violence and murders across our country. Why?

Many kids are growing up nowadays in violent neighborhoods with violent parents, attending violent schools, listening to music that glorifies and promotes violence, watching violent sickovision (TV), hearing constant news reports about violence, playing violent video games, and hanging out with violent friends. So why are we surprised when they turn to violence?

It takes a violent village to produce a flood of violent young people. When we allow people’s environment, mind, and heart to be constantly filled with violence, what can we expect but violence? Like a prophet said, We’ve “sown the wind and reaped the whirlwind.”

Add to all the violence the huge hurt of hopelessness and a double dose of a society drowning in disrespect, and today’s poor youth are ready to blow! We are reaping the results of what we have sown.

The antidote for violence is love. Somehow, some way, somebody has got to sow some love in the lives of our violence saturated culture. Somebody has got to boldly say; “What you are doing is wrong and self-destructive, but you are better than than. Let me show you a better way!”

Does TV Need More Dirty Words?

The Supreme Court may take a case to determine if there should be more dirty words on TV. It seems that currently the FCC doesn’t allow 7 particular dirty words on broadcast TV.

Some groups, however, are trying to get the FCC ruling changed so that they can broadcast and allow people to hear those 7 dirty words on broadcast sickovision. The words in question refer to things like feces, urination, and crude sexual intercourse.

But isn’t sickovision gross and vulgar enough with out sprinkling in 7 more dirty words? What’s the point?

Perhaps people want to pretend they are still in elementary school where they first learned those adolescent words. Maybe hearing bad words makes them feel like a big boy or a big girl. Perhaps some people actually enjoy thinking, talking, and hearing about “sexual and excretory functions” while at home watching TV. However, it sure doesn’t make any sense to me.

Personally, I prefer inspirational, wholesome, positive words and phrases. If the Supreme Court permits the 7 dirty words, they should at least be fair and mandate that for every dirty word used on sickovision one of the following 7 uplifting words be used: righteousness, purity, morality, honesty, holiness, hallelujah, and godly.

Foul Forces Fool Will Our Minds

Have you ever had an unwanted, bad thought just pop into your mind and try to seduce or compel you into a negative or self-destructive action? That is a common and frequent human experience that we call temptation.

Where do unwanted, tempting thoughts come from? If you don’t want a thought in your mind, then that thought obviously isn’t from you. So where is it coming from?

If you are not intentionally thinking negative or self-destructive thoughts; if instead you are resisting them and trying to get them out of your head; where are those thoughts coming from? They must be from some kind of enemy that wants to harm you.

Our personal human experience indicates that there are evil forces or personalities at work in our mind. When we surrender to them we end up acting out painful and destructive behaviors.

We often decide to resist those forces, and when we do we find we are in for a fierce fight. It can be extremely tormenting. Many times we give up and obey the negative forces just to get some relief from the struggle.

However, human beings can master and overcome the evil forces that attack their minds. It takes great training, effort, persistence, and discipline, but victory is worth the price.

We are human beings. Why should we allow bully thoughts and temptations to push us around?
