 Moderate Voters & Democrats

Democrats were recently in Nashville to discuss how they can appeal to “moderate, independent minded voters” in 2008. However, none of the 8 Democratic presidential candidates were here. Are the 8 worried that appearing willing to reach out to moderates will offend their core voters?

I’ve wanted to vote Democrat a couple of times in the past few elections. Two things, however, prevented me from doing so. (The last election, I voted for a third party candidate.)

1) I sincerely believe that the killing of the unborn is murder. I can no more vote for a party that supports the “right” to kill the unborn than I could vote for a party that supports the “right” to kill the elderly.

2) I also believe that homosexual behavior is immoral. I can no more vote for a party that promotes public and government approval of homosexual behavior than I could vote for a party that promotes public and government approval of adultry, polygamy, or beastality.

If the democrats would stop promoting those two radical issues, they could get my vote. Will they?

 PETA or PETUH

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) wants to see animals treated ethically. And that is a worthy cause. Michael Vick could have sure used some PETA literature in Atlanta.

However, there is a higher life form than animals being systematically slaughtered and abused in our society. And they need an organization to boldly speak out for them.

That is why I am proposing another PETA. Only this one is spelled PETUH. (PETUH sounds like the country version of PETA, yall. Maybe it should be headquarted in Nashville.)

What does PETUH stand for? It stands for: People for the Ethical Treatment of Unborn Humans.

Dan Matthews with PETA was recently in Nashville signing his book at Davis-Kidd Booksellers. Maybe somebody told him about the need for PETUH and soon it will be off and running. After all, if PETA wants animals treated ethically, surely they also desire the same ethical treatment for unborn human beings.

 Modern Myths #1

As ancient and tribal societies have had their myths and their gods, even so, our modern society has its myths and its gods. Our contemporary gods my not be thought of in human form like the Greek and Roman gods, yet our modern myths powerfully impact our culture.

Modern Myths will be a look at many of today's myths. Myth #1 is: A one-celled life form created itself and all other life forms on earth evolved from it.

This is so far fetched that it is difficult to imagine that it is widely accepted in an intelligent society. However, in reality, if you don’t agree with this myth you are considered “unscientific” or “unintelligent”. It is the only theory of the origin of life allowed in American public schools.

But where is the proof? There is none. No one can prove that any species of life has ever turned into another species. No one has ever created life in a science lab, even under the most favorable conditions possible. So if highly intelligent human beings cannot create life, how is life supposed to have come into existence by itself?

Without proof, evolution is only a theory. So why should the myth of evolution be baptized as “scientific”, presented as fact, and made the official faith of America, while other faiths are forbidden in our class rooms?

 Motivation Quotation 14

Motivation Quotation: “Many are deeply learned in the various disciplines of the arts and sciences. Yet they continue to remain profoundly ignorant about themselves. They are inquisitive about the affairs of other men, and yet they remain void of thought or care about themselves.” –Bernard of Clairvaux

Motivation Thought: Have you ever noticed that many people treat themselves worse than they would treat a stray dog? They continually inflict pain on themselves. Why?

The most important piece of machinery you will ever operate is your own mind. Yet many people are uneducated about how to operate their necktop computer — their mind. They follow random thoughts, embrace random feelings, and engage in random behaviors — creating great personal pain, while letting their powerful minds passively obey irrational and self-destructive whims.

To have a great resource and not know how to use it is a terrible waste. Your mind can tremendously improve the quality of your life, if you learn how to use its self-improvement qualities.

So where do you get this knowledge? Not in our schools or colleges. You must seek it out yourself. You can find a tremendous amout of information on how to operate your mind in these resources: 1) positive thinking and self-help books and tapes; 2) the New Testament & the books of Proverbs and Psalms; and 3) the writings of Orthodox and Catholic saints. Only 5 minutes a day in each of these three resources will radically improve your life. Just ask Bernard of Clairvaux!

 Does Skin Color Still Matter?

Why does one characteristic in America:

Make it very difficult to join and/or be a part of a private club?

Make a store clerk wonder if you may be shop lifting?

Make 3/4 of the American population not want to live in a neighborhood with you?

Make it statistically harder for you to get a loan than people of the same economic status who don’t have this characteristic?

Often make people suspicious of you before they know anything else about you?

Make people think you are poor?

Make you get stopped by the police more than a person of the same social status without this characteristic?

Make people think you always vote for Democrats?

Make people think you know where to buy illegal drugs?

Become the first thing people refer to when they describe you?

Make people think you were probably born to an unwed mother?

Make people think you want to live off the government?

Make people afraid if they are alone and meet you on a dark, secluded street?

Make a Maury County Tennessee official say: “we won’t have a White House but a Brown House”?

Make people think you have musical talent, are a great athlete, and like watermelon, fried chicken, and chitlins?
