Beware Of SV Movies & TV

SV movies and television have all but taken over American media. Warning: SV contains immature content and adolescent language. SV is full of such immature content as disrespect, vulgarity, cheapo sex, profanity, drugs, dead bodies, cruel and senseless violence, sexual disorientation and perversion, and other decadent subjects.

SV stands for Sicko-vision. Sicko-vision takes the worst, most degraded aspects of mankind and presents them as the normal human lifestyle. Sicko-vision is not mere entertainment. It is an all out attempt to brainwash the passive public into self-destruction and misery.

Don't be a sucker for Sicko-vision! Turn the cesspool off! Why consume filth when in a world filled with beauty?

 Courageous Virginia!

The Virginia General Assembly has passed a resolution expressing "profound regret" for the state's role in slavery, making it the first state to ever apologize for slavery. The resolution passed unanimously. They also expressed regret for the "exploitation of Native Americans".

The resolution says government-sanctioned slavery "ranks as the most horrendous of all depredations of human rights and violations of our founding ideals in our nation's history, and the abolition of slavery was followed by systematic discrimination, enforced segregation, and other insidious institutions and practices toward Americans of African descent that were rooted in racism, racial bias, and racial misunderstanding."

I've written much about the need for racial justice on this blog. To read more about it, click on "more" under the column "Recent Post" to your right. Then scroll down. You will notice many posts deal with slavery and racial injustice.

I am thankful for the courage of the state of Virginia to apologize for their role in our horrible American human rights violations. Missouri is also considering an apology for slavery.

And although I personally had nothing to do with slavery, I also apologize for the awful way my country has treated blacks and Indians. I apologize for my personal silence on the issue of racial justice for many years.

And someday, maybe 150 years from now, we will be apologizing for the slaughter of untold millions of our own sons and daughters in their mothers' womb. It is so easy to talk human rights.

Dear God, forgive us for our the horrible things we have done to each other. Please help us to really love, honor, and respect all forms of human life.

Guardian Angels Are Coming To Nashville

I heard Curtis Sliwa speak last night. He is in Nashville to help set up a chapter of Guardian Angels. He is a very inspiring man. In 1979 he started Guardian Angels to patrol crime filled streets in New York City. Today they are in 82 cities and 9 countries.

The Guardian Angels wear red berets and carry no weapons of any kind as they walk through neighborhoods. They keep radio contact with police and report crimes. They also encourage people to have hope and they strive to serve as positive role models in the community. Visit them at guardianangels.org

Curtis said he had received several requests to come to Nashville, the latest from Pam who lives on Second Street, the drug infested street that we prayer walk regularly. (See "Recent Posts" to the right of this screen, click on "more", and scroll down to the various posts that say "prayer walk".)

Today at 11:00 Curtis and some other Guardian Angels are going to have an exploratory patrol on Second Street. They hope to recruit members from Nashville and begin a regular Guardian Angels patrol. The story was on our local news last night.

Our prayer has been for God to turn that neighborhood around and set those in bondage to drugs, prostitution, and crime, free. And now here come angels -- Guardian Angels. Wow! God answers prayer. We will of course continue our prayer walks where we carry the Salvation Army flag that stands for the blood of Jesus and fire of the Holy Spirit and we lay our hands on people and pray with them. It is exciting that God is bringing in other people to stand with us!

I would like to see prayer walk patrols all over Nashville and all over the country. Wouldn't it be incredible if churches would open their doors, go out into the streets regularly in small groups to pray over people, and show God's love in action? Maybe God wants you and a few of your Christian friends to prayer patrol. Why not begin a prayer walk patrol this week? You only need two people to begin.

 Time 2 B "Anti"

How long should a society tolerate the random, brutal, legalized killing of the most innocent form of human life? How long should we turn away from the estimated 45 million dead babies killed since Roe v Wade? How long should we say it is a mother's right to have her innocent child killed? In the face of such atrocity, can we afford to be "nice"?

Being for life is not working! It is time to be anti-abortion! Now is not the time to "choose life". It is time to end abortion. STOP ABORTION NOW!

How? Consider the anti-slavery movement in the US. No one in the anti-slavery movement claimed to be pro-freedom. (The US Constitution claimed to be pro-freedom while boldly supporting human bondage.) No! They were ANTI-SLAVERY. They started anti-slavery societies and called for an immediate end to slavery. They spoke against slavery and wrote against it with great boldness.

In the British Empire William Wilberforce spoke, wrote, and worked against slavery and the slave trade. His efforts actually ended the slave trade in the British Empire. His story is coming out today in the movie, "Amazing Grace". Go see it! And catch the courage and boldness of Wilberforce.

Both in the US and in England the anti-slavery movements were non-violence. We can't end the violence of slavery or abortion with more violence. Non-violent direct action is the tool that will end the slaughter of innocents. It is time American Christians to wake up and stand up for the "least of these". If not now, when? If not you, who?

Isn't it time to be ANTI-ABORTION? Let's end the womb of doom! No More Dead Babies! STOP THE SLAUGHTER NOW!

 9/11/01 in Sioux Falls

The morning of September 11, 2001 I was in Sioux Falls, SD. I was on the schedule for 10:00 to be the keynote speaker for the South Dakota Health Care Association's annual convention. It is an association of nursing home owners, administrators, and employees and was attended by around 300 to 400 people.

I had breakfast that morning and walked over to the convention center. The delegates were having a business meeting before my speech so I decided to wait in the lobby. The TV was on in the lobby and a few people were standing in front of it. I walked over and heard the terrible news.

In a few minutes someone came and escorted me to the platform. The business meeting was ending. The people in the auditorium didn't know about the World Trade Towers yet.

The president of the association went to the podium and with a trembling voice begin to describe the morning's events in New York City. A hush fell over the room as the association president gave us the details of the stunning news. Then she told us that she had talked with the hotel manager and the leaders of the association and they had decided to continue with the day's events.

My heart sank. I was next on the schedule and I had to give an hour and a half motivational speech on positive thinking. Then after lunch I was to conduct a three hour seminar on positive thinking. "How can I do that now?" I thought.

The the association president said: "What should I do before I turn it over to our speaker?" Someone in the audience shouted "Pray!" The president started looking around and shifting back and forth. I reached over and touched her on the arm. She looked at me and I whispered: "If you will go ahead and introduce me, I will pray." So she told the audience: "I am going to introduce our keynote speaker and he will pray." Then she read a rather trivial introduction that I had written about myself and my background and turned the podium over to me.

I said to the audience, "Let's pray," and bowed my head. My prayer went something like this:

"O, Lord we need You today. Help us, Lord. Our country has been attacked. Help the people who are suffering and dying this morning. Rescue them and protect them. And please protect our country from any more attacks, O God."

"And God, forgive us. Forgive us for the things we have done that may have caused us to lose Your protection. Have mercy on us, for we have turned away from You, Lord. Forgive us, Lord, that we have promoted the killing of the unborn. Forgive us, Lord, that we have wanted our way and not Yours."

"O, Lord turn us back toward You. Have mercy on us. Help us turn away from our sins and turn back to You before it is too late. In Jesus' name, I pray."

And believe it or not, after those words I made an hour and a half speech about hope and possibility and encouragement. Then that afternoon I taught a three hour seminar on positive thinking. Afterward many people came up to me and said that they were so glad to hear about hope and optimism on such a terrible day.

It is an amazing miracle to me that the United States has been protected for five and a half years from another major terrorist attack. God is having mercy on us! But we still refuse to turn away from our sins. As a nation we are continuing to move farther away from honesty, morality, and character. And that scares me! Lord, have mercy on us!
