Much of our American history has been ignored, set aside, and forgotten. It is now hidden from our sight, our mind, and our thoughts.
We have forgotten the 200,000 Southerners who fought for the North during the Civil War. We have forgotten Denmark Vesey, Nat Turner, John Brown and thousands of others who fought for freedom on American soil before the Civil War. We have forgotten the many thousands of brave men and women who risked their lives to run away from human bondage.
We have forgotten the abolitionist, men and women who spoke and wrote boldly against human bondage and demanded liberty and justice for all. Their passionate writings still stir my heart today.
We have forgotten all but one of my Top 10 Americans. (To read about them go to Recent Posts to the right of this screen and click on "more". Then scroll down and watch for the Top Ten numbers.)
We have forgotten about the extreme cruelty, torture, and terrorism our founders displayed toward Africans and Indians. We have forgotten the men, women, and children who endured that abuse for their entire life.
February is dedicated to remembering some of our forgotten history. Check out my blog, hiddenhistory, under recommended blogs to your right. Go to the library or book story and get a book about our forgotten history. Watch a TV special on PBS. Reach out and get to know someone of another race. Have them over to your house for dinner. Truly celebrate Black History Month.

There were 5 of us at this morning's prayer walk through the inner city neighborhood that we walk weekly. Boy was it cold this morning. Jeanie and Linda made sack lunches and brought them this morning. So we gave away lunches as we walked and prayed.
As usual we carried the Salvation Army flag that stands for the blood of Jesus and the fire of the Holy Spirit. We walked down Second Street which is one of the major drug streets in Nashville. In spite of the cold, people were on the streets -- they don't let the cold get in the way of their drug business and other activities. Maybe Christians should learn something about commitment from them.
The Salvation Army wanted to take our picture this morning. It is supposed to be published in one of their newsletters. Hopefully it will inspire others to prayer walk inner city neighborhoods.
We got to pray with several people this morning. One guy, Robert, accepted one of the lunches and let us pray over him. After we walked away we looked back. A car drove up and Robert sold some more drugs. Please pray that God will convict him and set him free.
A little later a guy walked by without a coat. Linda asked him if he had a coat and he said no. So she invited him to stop by our office later and said she would give him a coat. We also gave him a lunch.
Second street was filled with trash this morning. It was the worst we have ever seen it in a year of prayer walking. There is a battle going on for the people that live and hang out on that street. Please pray that God will do miracles and rescue the drug dealers, the users, the prostitutes, and all the others who live on and frequent Second Street. Thank you!

Be careful that you don't download MV's. They can really mess up your neck-top computer. MV's are mental viruses. Mental viruses do to your mind what computer viruses do to your computer, creating disfunction and self-destruction. MV's are much more common than computer viruses. They have flooded our culture. Mental viruses are everywhere. Mental viruses are transmitted through words and images. Before you listen to or read words and before you look at images, it is advisable to run the McPhilippians 4:8 AntiVirus Program and see if they contain any mental viruses. And if they do, DO NOT DOWNLOAD MATERIAL CONTAINING MV'S. MV's produce frustration, discouragement, misery, self-destruction, loss of personal resources, and the inability to function properly. Probably everybody in our society is carrying some mental viruses and most people continue to carelessly download them. If you don't want mental viruses, use the McPhilippians 4:8 AntiVirus Program before you consume words or images. At no charge to you, here is the McPhilippians 4:8 AntiVirus Program: "Whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report; if there be any virtue, if there be any praise; think on these things." If you will run all words and images through the McPhillippans 4:8 AntiVirus Program before you download them into you neck-top computer your life will begin to recover from MV's. You will start to experience new levels of joy, peace, and victory. Try it today!

Are you singing "A Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song"? If so you have three options.
1) You can choose to get them back, even the score -- retaliate! The problem with that choice is like Gandhi said: "An eye for an eye and soon the whole world will be blind." If you get them back, they will probably get you back and the cycle of revenge will go on and on.
2) You can choose to resent, hate, or hold on to bad feelings. Meanwhile the person who did you wrong is going about his or her merry way, unaware of the bitterness and misery that you are putting yourself through. Someone has said: "Resentment is like burning down your own house to get rid of a rat." Does that sound very effective?
3) Or you can choose bless the person who did you wrong. That is the method that Jesus taught. He said: "Pray for those who persecute you." Try it. It works wonders.
All you need to do is ask God to bless the person who did you wrong. You don't need to "feel like" doing it or even to want to do it. You just obey and do it whether you want to or not. Just do it. Say something like this: "Dear God, I ask you to bless ___________ and bless his family. Give him (or her) good health and meet all his financial needs. Fill his life with good things. In Jesus name. Amen."
If you will obey Jesus and begin to bless those who have done you wrong, you will begin to be free from bitterness, hatred, and unforgiveness. Try it! It really works. A few years ago I prayed an individual prayer of blessing for every person I could think of who has ever done me wrong. Whew! It was wonderful. A bunch of stuff left my heart that I had forgotten was there. It feels so good not to have bad feelings toward anybody.
Try it. Experiment. Just see what happens. What do you have to lose? Right now, before you exit this blog, go ahead and pray a prayer of blessing for someone who has done you wrong.

Are you looking for a powerful new high? You've gotta try 5 by 5! Dozens of men at the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Nashville, Tennessee are beginning to get high with 5 by 5 and are finding it to be better than crack, pot, alcohol, pain pills, and meth. (And it won't make your teeth fall out.) So if you've got an addictive nature, listen up! Here's how you use 5 by 5. Before you cook it up, you must gather the ingredients. But that's not a problem. All the ingredients are legal and are commonly available. Here's what you need. First you need some literature on the subject and you can find that at any new or used book store, or even Walmart, K-Mart, or Target. And what is the subject? Personal growth. Find a positive thinking, self-help, or recovery book. And also get an easy to read Bible like NIV or NKJ. Now you are ready to cook up a real high! You take 5 by 5 with your eyes. You spend 5 minutes every day reading a self-improvement book and five minutes every day reading the New Testament. I like the Gos-pills -- Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Do this every day, without missing a day, for 21 days and you will be addicted to personal growth reading! You will be getting high on positive words -- the most powerful drug known to mankind. And wow, is it a good high! Who needs chemicals when you can get loaded on powerful, life-changing words? Don't believe me. I dare you to try 5 by 5 for yourself. Read the New Testament 5 minutes a day and a self-help book five minutes a day, every single day for 21 days in a row, and see what happens. You'll be higher than you've ever been.
